Experience new symptoms cause by other illnesses?
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:57:26 pm »
Monday afternoon I began to experience flu like symptoms and at the same time one of my incisions became much more tender than it has been in several months.  By Tuesday morning I could not lay my head on the surgical side.  I visited my general practitioner and she became alarmed because my white blood count was elevated, location of pain and flu like symptoms.  She was concerned about infection in my head so I became concerned.  She sent me to a local ER where they did a CT scan and blood work.  The CT showed no issues, in fact the neuroradiologiss comment was "they did a good job resecting the tumor".  I was released with ibuprofen.  I am attributing the soreness to the flu.  Has anyone experienced new side affects from common illnesses?
I am feeling much better today less flu like and less sore.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim.  I definitely experience tenderness while I have a cold or flu.  In fact, a lot of things cause that area to be more tender, like sneezing too hard, a headache, exercise, laying on that side too much.  Sometimes I take pain relievers and sometimes I put an ice pack on it.  Glad to hear you're feeling better.  And now you know you're not alone in this.  --Carol Ann

Tim,

I posted yesterday about my face swelling - which I had NEVER had in my life!  I suspect it was sinus drainage that for some reason didn't want to come through my nose...but I'll never know since today it was much better.  We had a huge weather band come through that gave us heavy rain and west of me they got blizzards....so it was pretty severe (thunder & lightning  too!)  I'll just have to watch my face the next big weather band that comes through here!

Thanks ladies.  Interesting to hear Carol Ann.  Glad this site is here to keep me somewhat sane!

Sorry to hear you're struggling, but it's SO good to hear from folks who have similar issues to mine.  It seems every little health problem that I used to just sail right through, now it can totally derail me.  I've had a cold this week, mostly scratchy throat and no head cold issues, but it seems to have brought about a return of that dizzy, wonky headed feeling.  I got online to post my two year update, and just happened upon your thread.  Hope things even out for you!

I told a nurse the feelings are similar to what I experienced right after my surgeries.  It is like I went back in time.  The bright side is they went away before so I assume they will again.
