Multiple AN's
« on: March 15, 2012, 06:09:10 pm »
Can one have an AN and then get another AN on the same side.  I understand NF2, looking at the possibility of another tumor, in the same ear as one that had been treated with FSR?

I have had 2 different on one side but I am NF2 so might not be what you are looking for.        It will be interesting to see if anyone else has had one.                                Cheryl R

Hi Ned;

  Yes; But it's likely to turn up a NF-2 Dx. Esp. if you were under 30 the first AN.
  The second AN may have a line of demarcation definitely separating it from the other AN, or the AN may be "multilobular".
  It would be interesting if the 2nd AN arose from a different nerve!
  I doubt FSR is at issue here as there exist surgical failures as well. Or, it may have not failed and you just grew another AN?
