Prayers for helpful people

 At this time, I would like to ask for prayers for our support systems because they have need of our support as well.

In particular for our families and friends who have supported us so well as we have gone through this journey and been a refuge for us!

Mike,

Thank you for writing this. I had my first "nightmare" last night involving my dad and his surgery- and then I come on here and see your wonderful words. I feel I am still trying to find the balance of providing support for my family and working through my own emotional issues. This is most definitely a tough journey for all involved.

Jennie,

I recognize that this is mostly a place where those of us with AN's come to seek solace from one another but since it is a caregivers forum I just figured I'd say thank you if someone else forgot to. All of us need each other on this big green marble to show a little compassion to each other!

I have been undergoing stress of my own since October 2011. Now, I have to have Gamma Knife radiation. It has not been easy for my wife and child (who is in college and about to graduate. My mother and father are aged now, each has their own issues.

For my wife,it must be hard to be there everyday on the other side of the bed to hear my deepest morning fears irrational though they are! I just wanted to say thank you all for putting up with us as we go through this nightmare together.

I will pray for you, that God grants you a peaceful sleep tonight. PM me and we can talk.

While those going through surgery have real concerns about their outcome and future, those who children and spouse/partners have very similar concerns as to how their lives will change.  The power of prayer, meditation or whatever works for you is so important in the healing process.

Support for AN patients is critical and this website helps.  Children and partners of AN patients also need support.  Whether it be from this site or participation in local ANA support groups, its important that the challenges before you be discussed in the open and that others, in the same situation, have the opportunity to help families through the AN experience.

Don't keep the children out of the process.  There are many good people - Drs, social workers, psychologists that can help relieve the stress on children of all ages and families going through this experience.

Dear Alan,

I know you are probably not reading this.

 I just wanted to reaffirm our support for the people taking care of the AN patients you are the unsung heroes of our lives you are the caregivers, the signifigant others, the husbands, wives' children and most of all good friends to us as we go through this AN nightmare. You are the most important part of our care team you are in charge in most instances with taking us home from the hospital and caring for us as we recover. This will be a long hard road, we are grateful that you can share the load. Although it maybe very stressful at first, stick with us, we need you, we love you.

After the doctors have done their work and the nurses have ministered to us , it is you who are in charge until we get our balance back and can get our sense of selves back. I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you, before you are forgotten and before your patient gets to thank you.

You are the very  glue that holds us AN patients together. Remember to get rest when you can and take some quiet time for yourselves.

Once again thank you from all of us.
