"Open Source" approach to a brain tumor
« on: November 26, 2012, 08:39:08 am »
I came across Salvatore Iaconesi's approach to dealing with his brain cancer diagnosis.  He found the diagnosis to be dehumanizing, he had become more of a diagnosis and a less human being.  He posted his medical records on-line.  And 15,000 people responded, 60 of them are doctors.  He developed a multidisciplinary and multicultural approach to his treatment plan, and in the process reclaimed his humanity.
I'm enough of an introvert that it never occurred to me to post medical records on-line.  But I find this fascinating.  We may see more of this approach in the future.
