Totally lost it today
« on: May 02, 2013, 09:36:08 pm »
I totally lost it today at my pre-op appointment reading through all the possible things that can go wrong on the release form..."stroke, incontinence...???seriously? I know they have to put everything under the sun on those forms, but what a way to get started... fortunately pulled myself together before the doc came in...

Jeanne,

I empathize!   I reviewed all these forms only a few hours before my procedure, and I was rather amazed myself.  In person, the doc and I talked primarily about hearing and then the forms come and it's a bit overwhelming.

I've also done some reading post-treatment and it can continue to be daunting.

But since I know you've been here and doing your reading, thinking, discerning, and discussing---I hope you have become comfortable with your decision.  I came to the conclusion that there's more risk to my health each time I go out on the highway, buy the foods found in grocery stores, and walking the dog.  Risk, unfortunately, is everywhere and we can't stay in our bedrooms in paralysis.

The good folks here helped me through the hard moments (which still occur!), and I affirm how you are feeling.  Hang in there....although I'm a believer that sometimes it's okay to "let go" and feel what you are feeling.

Take care and enjoy your weekend.  Treat yourself!

I solved that problem by just not bothering to read them.  ;D

Jeanne

I totally understand what you went through / are going through, I'm the same way.  But then like ArizonaJack, I just gave up reading the forms, they got to be too much for me to handle.  Like my husband is always telling me, if you read all the warnings etc for aspirin you'd never take another aspirin again.

Good luck, all will be fine.  Prayers for you.
