tingling sensation on my face??
« on: May 16, 2014, 10:50:38 am »
I've started feeling some weird sensations on my face..on the side of my tumor. I'm not sure if this is all in my head or if this is nothing. It feels like a slight tingling sensation by my eye socket and sometimes above my eyebrow. Is this something or nothing? Am I going crazy?
MRI showed - 1.9cm x 1.9cm x 0.9cm AN - as of 5/11/13
MRI showed - 20.5mm AP x17mm  transverse x 20.7mm - 5/8/14

Possibly - but only an MRI scan can tell for certain.  If your AN is growing, it's probably time to take action.  Talk to your doctor.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

My AN was 1.8cm when I was diagnosed.  While I was researching my options, my symptoms continued to increase.  Around the 9 month point I developed a very intense tremor that would start at my jaw line and travel up my cheek to my eye ONLY AFTER I sneezed.  My balance had also gotten worse so we bumped my 1 year MRI up to see if anything had changed. My AN had grown to 2.4cm.  The neurosurgeon said it sounded like the trigeminal nerve was starting to be effected and I should make my mind up sooner than later as to what I wanted to do.  I opted for Gamma Knife and had a 3 month wait for my treatment.   One month prior to my Gamma Knife the tremors stopped and now at 8 months post Gamma Knife they have not returned.  Other issues however have remained.

At 2.1cm, your AN has shown that it has continued to grow. Just my personal opinion here, but I wouldn't give it a chance to grow to big.

Cathie.

Diagnosed: June 2012, right side AN 1.8cm
June 2013: AN has grown to 2.4 cm.
Gamma Knife: Sept. 11, 2013 Toronto Western Hospital

I was watch-and-wait until I developed numbness around my eye socket - convinced me to have surgery sooner rather than later . . .

I had a 3cm AN tumor. I had numbness in my face off and on for months before it was discovered. I had a translab at KU med center and received excellent care. The tumor was pressing my brainstem and had actually grown into my facial nerve and was splitting it apart. I developed a facial palsy on the right side of my face. I am only 3 months post-op so hopefully things will improve. I would seriously consider reviewing your options sooner rather than later. Good luck!  :P
3cm AC tumor diagnosed 1/14
Translab to remove tumor Dr. Chamoun/ Dr. Lin (KU med) 2/28/14
Right side facial paralysis/ SSD with tinnitus
