Hello
Just wanted to thank everyone who posts on this board. It has helped take my anxiety down to a manageable level.
I had never heard of an AN until 2 weeks ago, when I went for a visit to my ENT for a perpetual earache on my left side, that my doctor has checked to many times only to tell me there is nothing there. Finally, he referred me to the ENT. Went to the office before I could see the Dr. I had an Audiology test, very thorough audiology test. One that the Audiologist seemed very concerned about. She asked about tinnitus and I told her I have had it for as long as I can remember but have been told there is nothing you can do for it, so I have learned to live with it. I told her I have had migrains and pressure headaches that will last for days. She stated that she would speak with the Dr. and he would see me in a minute....She was right however he saw me for about 3 minutes, told me he was pretty positive that I had an AN, which is a benign tumor in the left side, its not malignant so I shouldn't worry, he is sending me for an ENG which if it comes out normal, he will send me for an MRI, the reason, SNHL assymetrical hearing loss, tinnitus, balance, headaches..he told me once I have test he will call me and go from there.
The ENG came out normal, and an MRI was scheduled for this 2/4. Thank God I found this site first! Because there is some really scary stuff out there. This site seems compassionate, truthful and comforting in the fact that everyone posts their progress. I am a really positive person and know that if this is what it is...I will work very hard to overcome the obsticals and move forward.
Does anyone now about the Northwestern Hospital Program or has anyone gone or know of any specialists in Chicago area?
Thanks Again,
Alice
