I am about 3 months post-op for a right vestibular schwannoma.  I am having a significant amount of tinnitus, what have others experienced?

Most ppl have Tinnitus for years after surgery. It probably never leaves. It does get "less loud" after a while. I am 1 year after surgery and i still have tinnitus but it's "less loud" now than it was before surgery oar a few months after surgery.

I had it before surgery and I have it now-only louder. Could be because my hearing is diminished in the AN ear. I will see the MD again in May and am hoping a hearing aid will improve my hearing and dampen the tinnitus.

Hi Armynurse,
We are having a webinar on tinnitus on Thursday, May 12th- see the homepage of the website to register (registration will open next week). There was also a great patient article about tinnitus in the March edition of our NOTES newsletter.

Also some great reading about Tinnitus in a thread I posted on way back in August:

The same WIDEX "Zen" hearing aid feature I mentioned basically saved my life.

When I went for Gamma Knife treatment with Dr. Sheehan in Virginia, even one of their radiation oncologist Paul Read at UVA took note of my success with the WIDEX hearing aid. Dr. Reed wrote down the name (WIDEX with Zen) and starting Googling to share with his patients. I also speak highly about it to everyone I meet who has Tinnitus, and when I attend the local ANA support group.

It can definitely improve your quality of life.

Best wishes.

Another data point. I am 3 months post AN surgery with double the pre-surgery tinnitus in my left ear. My ENT doctor said the tinnitus would lessen in time. Hope so.

Thank you for the tinnitus/WIDEX information.
