Tinnitus

My tinnitus has developed an odd chirp every 5 or 6 seconds.  This is on top of the constant static sound that I am used to.  The chirp has appeared twice before, but each time it was short lived.  This time I have had it for two days.  It seemed to start when I had a hearing test to see if I could benefit from a CROS II.  It is especially annoying at night when I am trying to sleep.  Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so how long did it last?  I am going nuts waiting for the little chirp.

Yeah, I have something similar. The sounds in my AN ear change from time to time. I've had wind chimes, Morse Code, beeps and tones. Currently I have intermittent tones that last about a second with a second in between. Fortunately, the volume is low so my tinnitus is barely perceptible and I can ignore it most of the time. It's a bit annoying when I go to sleep but doesn't keep me from falling asleep in a reasonable amount of time.

It's just one more bear we have to cross.

Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone.  It's hard to explain how much tinnitus can affect us to people who don't have it.  The steady  noise of tinnitus is better than the intermittent stuff - chirps, beeps, etc..  I find that a sound machine that drowns out background noise really helps with sleep.  The one I have can be set to different  sounds, but I like the plain, static noise.  You can also try tuning a radio between channels and adjusting the volume to drown out tinnitus. I'm not so sure about that. My good ear has had tinnitus for about 10 years in the form of a constant hissing like a tire deflating. It's always there but barely perceptible and easily ignored.

The sounds in my deaf ear are, at least, sometimes amusing, like the time the wind chimes played Silent Night.

Nah, that's the frequency of transmissions that control your mind and make you get up at night and walk into the subterranean catacombs to be eaten by Morlocks.

Had trans lab last year and just prior to that I was getting ear noise, still am. Not easy but seems to come and go, sometimes worse than others and sometimes keeps me up at night, but I just try to push through it. Got hearing aids about a month ago, cross in left. It is another thing that makes us special. I am guessing your noises will change into something else soon, hopefully something less bothersome.  Best of luck and you are not alone.
