Today (12/8/16) marks 1 year since i had my surgery to remove my AN. The recovery has been a remarkable journey. My scar is hardly visible and it's amazing considering i had about 14 staples for a 4-5 inch incision. I still retained half my hearing in my AN side and I've adapted to the tinnitus as long as i have white noise or a ipod. I didn't experience a lot of balance issues, but i walked a lot right after surgery and i still do everyday. (My dog keeps me active since she needs 4 walks a day) I just went on vacation 2 weeks ago on a 11 hour flight to Hawaii (i'm from NYC) and i had no issues with the airport, snorkeling, swimming, and of course the spiked pina coladas
. I will be due for a second post-op MRI in August to check if there is any regrowth, but as of now i'm in the clear.
I want to send out some positive vibes that although everyone's outcome will be different, everything will be ok!
