3 Year Gamma Knife update
« on: January 02, 2017, 02:18:25 pm »
I'm a few months late with this update but wanted to share the news.  I had my 3 year post Gamma Knife MRI in Sept. 2016.
My AN has remained at the same 1.8cm size it was on my year 2 anniversary. There is no necrosis showing as yet, but the good news is that everything is stable.  The only ongoing issue I deal with is the dry eye problem.  I keep the eye lubricated with a light gel through the day and a heavier one at night.  I am still maintaining an average of 30% word recognition in the AN ear, and I am very grateful for my Phonak Bi-Cross hearing aid.  All other symptoms and issues I dealt with prior to having Gamma Knife and during the first year post treatment have resolved. Life is good!

I wish everyone the very best of luck and good health in 2017!

Cathie
Diagnosed: June 2012, right side AN 1.8cm
June 2013: AN has grown to 2.4 cm.
Gamma Knife: Sept. 11, 2013 Toronto Western Hospital

Congratulations on your latest MRI results.  I am 5 years post GK and everything thankfully is stable.  I am deaf in my left ear (was deaf prior to GK) and I have adjusted very well.  Life is good
