Oakwood corporate apartments - Los Angeles
« on: June 14, 2017, 06:06:34 am »
Hello!  I am traveling to LA for surgery with Dr. Friedman/Keck on August 1.  I'm narrowing down my housing options, and was wondering if anyone has ever stayed in the Oakwood extended stay apartments in the area?  If so, will you let me know how it was?  Thanks so much!!

We also will be going to Keck for AN surgery around the first of July.  Would you please let us know if you get any info on where to stay.  Seems like Currie Suites is full.  Thanks,  Sandy and Larry

Hi there - yes, we have been unable to get into the suites.  We are going to rent a house that we found on VRBO in Pasadena.  Since I know the area well, I think that's a good location - only about 10 miles from the hospital and in a nice neighborhood.  Hope you found something reasonable!!

I've had clients and client's assistance stay at various Oakwood housing locations in LA.  They all liked them, but we only used two of the locations.  I think there are quite a few.

We  went for surgery at Keck the end of July and decided to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Montebello. Since we were there for almost 2 weeks it ended up about $450 cheaper than Currie Suites which we couldn't get into. They gave us a corporate rate ( with 2 king size beds and a handicapped room.)  It actually worked out fine as it was about 7 miles away from the hospital.  I did have to navigate 3 freeways to get  there but I managed. The first week my husband didn't care really where we were staying so I doubt that the location would have made any difference the first week.  The hotel was clean, good comfortable beds and quiet.  It seems to attract more business people than tourists. It had a nice patio area and there was enough room to walk around outdoors which backed up to a golf course.  There were restaurants nearby so were didn't have to drive far to go out to eat. I had scheduled another week at the beach but my husband was happy where we were and so we stayed there for the second week   Hope this is helpful because LA is just plain expensive no matter where you stay..
