Retained foreign object;chronic head and neck pain

I am wondering if it is normal or if anyone has ever been told that a metal clip or some other foreign object showed up in a post operative MRI.  Many years post operative I had a follow-up MRI and a local doctor gave me my results, not my surgeon. I was told everything looked fine and just a metal clip showed on MRI. I thought that strange because I was never told that any foreign object would be left in permanently. I have had chronic pain and I am on disability since my surgery almost 10 years ago. I am going to follow up and see if I can get some further information next week from the local doctor. Then maybe a call to Stanford where the surgery was done. Any information or suggestions? Thanks for your help.
