Pre Surgery CT scan, contrast agent?

My ENT ordered an MRI with contrast, which detected a 42mm neuroma. I did not understand what the contrast was at the time, and was never really informed about it, and I think if I was I would prefer to not have it injected into my body. I have a surgery scheduled about a month away now and today I'm going in for a CT scan. Is it likely a contrast agent will be used for that as well? Is a specific contrast agent probable? What would happen if I said I was uncomfortable being injected/taking that contrast?

I had it once prior to tratment - since then I have declined for simply tracking changes. Chat to your specialist. Mine actually agreed with me and said fine. These days the imaging technology has improved so much. I do say that if anything is flagged or an emergency arises then sure I will consider it. If you must have it, stay well hydrated some say NAC/ glutathione may help detoxify I dont know. I just felt for me it was inflammatory. Also have your kidney function tested before - good kidney function means its better eliminated.

Michele is correct.  You can talk to your neurosurgeon and tell them that you do not want the contrast.  Many neurosurgeons want the contrast on the first MRI, but are fine not using the contrast thereafter.  And especially with a 42mm neuroma, they should not need the contrast.
