Latest technology for AN treatment options
« on: January 01, 2025, 10:42:55 am »
ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery[/b] for treatment of brain tumors, including AN and other conditions of the Skull and neck.  Has anyone been treated by this ZAP-X  ????     This is only available in a few medical centers in the U.S. & more in Europe.  Has anyone, including providers in this field research outcomes of post AN treatment with ZAP-X?

Hello NJ,

I have not heard of this technology.  I am not a doctor so keep that in mind. I had CK inn Sept. 23. I am an engineer who retired to focus on my AS. I studied all the different SRS systems.  I did not review this one. The ones I did review I felt all could to the job. There is a webinar 7/27/22 when they say all machines can get the job done. Not sure what you are asking. Is this a machine better then other or if this machine is what you have are your location and will it get the job done.

Good luck on your journey,

Dan

ZAP-X is a fairly new linear accelerator used to treat brain tumors with stereotactic surgery (SRS).

It appears to be safe and may offer the patient some benefits in comfort compared to CyberKnife.

My only concern is, because it is relatively new in the United States, do the specialists using it have much experience treating acoustic neuromas?  If they don't, is it worth the risk (even if you have benefits of comfort like not having to use a head frame)?  I don't know the answer.

But my belief has been that the machine used to treat acoustic neuromas does not matter as much as the experience of the specialist running the machine.  You can have the best device in the world, but in the hands of an inexperienced operator can do much damage.

Best wishes on your journey!
