Two weeks with my TransEar
« on: October 24, 2007, 10:48:14 pm »
I have now had my TransEar for 2 weeks and had a second adjustment today.  I am amazed at how much it does help in my classroom .  I didn't wear it for 2 days because my ear hurt ( not in the ear canal but on the outer part ) and boy did I notice the difference at school without it.  When I went back to my hearing aid specialist he sanded down the outer part to fit my ear better and boy what a difference !  Now  I feel  ;D  instead of  :o after a few hours - no ear pain.  He was skeptical  at first that this kiind of hearing aid would work ( He had never heard of it before I called him)...... but he now is looking forward to helping other people who are interested in the TransEar.  It was well worth the 100 round trip drive the 2 times I went.   For those of you in South West Washington his office is located in Vancouver.... e-mail me if you want information.   Very nice guy and super helpful.
I wondered if I would be able to tell directional sound with it... and last week when my husband and I were walking... a dog barked loudly and I was able to point across the street to the yard he was in (I couldn't see him.. .. the yard was fenced) .... wow that was really great.  Anyway,  I am a happy camper with my TransEar.  No, it  doesn't sound the same as the old ear used to... but it sure is better than nothing... and  I feel less stressed around people and don't have to strain as much to hear what is going on.
Just wanted to share my positive results.  Thanks to all of you who have shared with me about your own TransEar experiences.... it was very helpful.  I would sure recommmend this over another surgical procedure (BAHA) .... but that's just my feeling  because I don't want anymore surgerys .... or more metal in my head  :D  I also like having my hearing ear  clear without  a hearing aid in it too.

This is promising to read.

Could you copy & paste it and post it on the classroom noise thread to

Thanks for your upbeat testimony regarding Trans Ear.  I'm anxiously awaiting my December qppointment with my ENT to determine if my hearing has stabilized enough to get one.

I started wearing my TransEar on September 28, 2007.  It has never hurt my ear and I have worn it all day since day one.  Yesterday I saw my audiologist again and she made a minor change using her computer and it does seem to be picking up more each week.  One big plus I believe is that my tinnitus is not as loud or maybe it is that I just don't notice it as much.

It is amazing the people I have talked with that have hearing problems or even single sided deafness.  There are quite a few out there that just do not make the effort to adjust to a hearing aid or know so many that have hearing aids and don't use them.  I definitely will use my TransEar and would recommend that any AN person try it.

I agree Jean.  It is well worth trying it out.  Even if it helps some it is far better than what we have without it.  I have had it in today since about 9 a.m. and I even forgot it was there.  I agree about the tinnitus.... I don't notice it as much either.  My hearing aid specialist  said his tinnitus is less when his hearing aid is in.

I am sharing about the TransEar with many other people.... and yes, it is amazing how many people are SSD.

Have a great rest of the weekend all..........  for me it's back to work on grades for report cards. :'(

Marg,

Glad to hear that the TransEar is working out well for you.  I wouldn't give mine up.  That's good that it is helping you in the classroom.
