HOOORAHHH!!!!! Today I had movement under my eye.
« on: October 26, 2007, 06:15:57 am »
Today I during physical therapie I saw a little bit of movement, under my left eye (muscle on the cheek bone moved).  The left corner of my mouth moved also 2-3mm  :) :) :)  !!!!  I know it's only the beginning to a long slow recovery, but it made me feel great.  Before the OP I almost always had a smile on my face, since then I try to hide my lopsided smile.
I can also raise my eyebrow almost as high as the good side know, but I still can't close my eye completely without hand assistance.  When it is closed I can hold it closed as long as the good eye is closed.

Dan, that's great!  I personally like my lopsided smile, but then I've been lopsided most of my life!  So don't not smile just because you think it isn't perfect.  The recipient doesn't care!  Raised eyebrows are also very good.  Exercise (facial ones) are soooooooooo much fun to watch in the mirror and on others.  Keep up the super progress.
Hugs,
Brendalu :-\

Congratulations Dan. Who would have thought after running hundreds of miles, lifting , exercising, etc. that 2-3  millmeters would be a great distance- it is a great distance. Keep up the hard work.

Well done you!!! as you said its slow but there is movement, I'm sure the rest will follow, its just a matter of time and as the saying goes "good things come to those who wait" and with my little bit added "good things come quicker to those who keep trying" so keep trying improvement will come with time.

keep on keeping on!

Retrosigmoid, 21 Sept 07, so its been 5 weeks since the OP.  The first week after the OP I had no Paralysis but then over a four day period completely motionless left side, with eye frozen open.

Hi Dan,

Your news is wonderful and I'm very happy for you.  Wish I were back in Germany walking the Black Forest once more--sigh!  I wonder if you were able to get out to some of their Oktoberfests.  Choos!

How wonderful is this??!!!  Some very good news for a change.  I am very happy for you.  This never happened to me but my daughter had Bell's palsy at 9 years old and the whole left side of her face was paralyzed.  To say this was traumatizing would be a subtle statement.  The poor thing was made fun of in school, oh what a nightmare.  But one day her face began to look a bit different and lo and behold in a few weeks she had most of the movement back.  So, I do know how you feel with just a tingle, it really feels like a whole lot more.  I wish you well, holly
