A Science Research Project

My mom was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma and now I am doing a science research plan on it in my Senior year of high school. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to help me with my project.

I'm sure anyone here would be happy to help you.  There are some really knowledgeable people that I'm sure can answer any questions you have.  What a great topic to do your project on.  Hope it goes well and I really hope your Mom is doing well!

Right 3cm AN diagnosed 1/2007.  Translab resection 2/20/07 by Dr. David Kaylie and Dr. Karl Hampf at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.  R side deafness, facial nerve paralysis.  Tarsorraphy and tear duct cauterization 5/2007.  BAHA implant 11/8/07. 7-12 nerve jump 9/26/08.

Great project you are doing and your mom is so well loved out here! Yeppers, she's here and rather well-known amongst us ANA forum vets...... please give mom a huggle (as well as your grandmother!) and we are all here to help!

From what perspective are you doing your project?

Sam he does and I have a form I'll be sending you shortly.
His originial project was denied by the school board so he's trying to figure out a new angle. They said there is a conflict with the Hippa laws which I am unclear about as he's not asking names just age and sex (male or female gutter minds). He's determined to make this happen and wants to focus on the cognitive affects and/or headache correlation. If I'm remembering correctly. This is his project and other them directing him here and hooking him up with Sam, I'm not involved. I'm sure he's open to suggestions.

So yes Joef, Mom is on here, has been since post surgery. This place has been my life line, my son has appreciated me finding this site and becoming involved and wants to do something to help further our cause. One of his friends in school actually was complaining to him about her symtpoms and he diagnosed her with an AN. She's had surgery and is doing great. I met her recently at a football game. She is having some cognitive issues with mixing up words but is doing well.

I appreciate everyone's help!

Hi Chris,  I'm in.  I'm a nurse, so ask away.  There is so much to learn here.  What a great project.  Your mother is lucky to have a son interested in a disease which effected his family.  Good for him.  Holly

Left AN dx. 11/05 Linac radiosurgery 01/06 Burlington, VT for a 9mm x 5mm tumor.  No necrosis yet (2 yrs. post-op).  Multiple post radiosurgery complications, some permanent.  Have radio-oncologist here.  Now see Dr. McKenna, Mass. Eye & Ear Instit., Boston for flollow-up care as my main An doctor.
