I had the consults last week at Georgetown for CK. Everything went well with the exception that I caught a head cold the day before going. They reported having done 40-50 ANs via CK since inception. I was told the one side effect that almost everyone notes is fatigue. Of course, we reviewed the other side effects also but I'm hoping for the best outcome with minimal side effects. With the cold, getting fitted for the mask actually felt great to my sinuses because it's warm when first applied. Once stretched over my face, she pulled a bit of it away from my nose which helped tremendously. The CT scan was done with the mask on after it had dried. Let's just say, there is no way my head is going to move. They offer Ativan prior to treatments. They also don't routinely use steroids in their protocol reserving that for later if problems occur.
I have a question for those that have been through radiosurgery. On the flight back, my AN ear stopped up a good bit taking what seemed like forever to pop and normalize. I realize this was likely due to congestion, but I'm concerned about flying after radiation. Has anyone had problems with this?
Thanks
Sandra
