I’ll try and make this short, In Nov of 07 I had left side facial paralysis and complete lost of hearing, it started with the stuffy feeling in ear. ENT said it was AN, I went to a specialist who talked about the trans procedure but he wanted me to visit with his partner a Neurology Surgeon, by the time I saw the Neurology Surgeon the paralysis was gone and I could hear in the left ear (about a week later). MRI still showed tumor. I opted for surgery (retro approach) over radio to get it over with and out of my system. Feb 13, I had surgery (7 hours), Dr was able to get the entire tumor out but said it was not an AN but a Facial? I have no paralysis and I can hear some in my left ear. 10 days later I went back to get the staples removed, it was discovered that I had allot of fluid around the incision and some fluid was coming out of nose, Dr. drained the fluid and sent off for testing ( negative) he put me on heavy antibiotics, I went back to see him 3 days later fluid still there, now the CSF word was being tossed around, if fluid does not go away I would need to go back into hospital for some sort of lumbar drain procedure, if that didn't work......back on the table.
On my next visit the following week, I was prescribed Diamox which is used get rid of excess water in the body, so far so good !! The incision is just about flat, I’ve had no fluid coming from the nose.
On the other hand my vision has been all over the map, I’m primarily seeing double, I went to the eye Dr who said my eyes look good it’s jus that the eye muscles need time to heal, I was given a prescription for glasses to help out temporarily until my eyes recover ( left eye).
Right now, I scheduled to see Dr. this Friday, hopefully he will say I’m good to go.
