Debbi,

Yay! PICCless is the way to go! Congratulations, I am sure it was not fun even if it beats staying in the hospital.

Debbi -
YAY! I'm waving my flag for ya!  And Pooter, It sounds like we have the same look going on - got my wrap-arounds around my glasses and bandage too.  I've got the do-rag for outdoors, and just wear the ace inside.  It's truly stunning either way...and yes, Deb, it's time to get a do-rag too.  I've yet to receive my knit hat, so I think we'll have to wing it...

Can I just tell you all how wonderful it was to wake up this morning and NOT have to get up and infuse an IV of antibiotics!  I am a free woman!!!!!  I just laid in bed and reveled in the joy of not having to do a darned thing...

I took the 12" extension off my picc last night, so only have the little 6 inch line to contend with until Monday afternoon.  Wahoo.  I have it neatly tucked in a chopped off tube sock (some of you know what I mean here...) so I don't look like too much of a wacko.

Having my in laws over for "dinner" tomorrow afternoon.  For those of you with Italian families, you'll know that Sunday dinner occurs at about 1 PM and lasts for several hours.  I have conditioned them over the years not to expect a pasta course anymore  ;D so this won't be as taxing as it may sound.  Willie is going to grill salmon and I'll do some mashed sweet potatoes and a big Greek salad.  And, I've already warned everyone that I may retire to nap if I get too tired.  My in laws are VERY loud (it's like a movie, actually) so a nap might be just the thing - I can lay on my good ear and block everything out...   :D  For those following the wine dialoge, chianti goes very nicely with salmon, as does pinot noir.  Maybe I'll have both...

I am counting the hours until the de-picc-ing of Debbi...

Debbi -

enjoy the Sunday dinner tomorrow - wish I lived in the neighborhood - the menu sounds great!

So, on Monday, do you plan to rush home and take your first "free woman" shower?  ;)

Bet you can't wait!  So happy for you!

Yup.  I don't wear a do-rag, but I definitely wear the ace bandage all the time and my new fancy glasses when I go outside.   8)

Debbi -
Sounds like your in heaven now that you're  about to go piccless.  I can't say that I blame you.  I was so happy for you I did the dance of joy (and managed not to fall down despite the twirling)!  Since you are having company tomorrow and I'm not quite sure what our plans are for the day, would Monday be better?  If you're available, it would probably be better for me.  Let me know when You'll be home and I'll give you a call then, if you think you'll be up to it.  Otherwise, it can wait.

Hope the rest of your weekend is great!

Debbi--

That dinner sounds fabulous! (If not exactly fast food...  ;) )

Hope you enjoy the company, and also the freedom to opt out of the commotion, guilt-free, when you need to!

Debbi - menu sounds great.  See ya at 1.  I'll bring the pasta.  My Italian family wouldn't have it any other way - you make it an eat it even if you don't want to!   :D  You know those Italians - "Mangia!".

I'm so glad Monday will be "Freedom from PICC's" day for you!  I'd hate to see your water bill after that LONG shower you're going to enjoy!  It'll be worth every penny though!

Hi Debbi -
Just thought I'd drop you a quick note to say "H!"   Hope you enjoy your Italian Feat today with our in-laws.  I have to go with Carrie and say it's nice you can opt out with a legitimate excuse if you need to nap. I know since I've lost so much of my hearing noisy situations bother me too.  It's hard to follow conversations and just gets annoying and frustrating.    Don't lknow what I'm doing today.  Sam  went out with a friend and her mother to spend some of the loot she got for her birthday (yesterday's party was a huge success from all points of view)  Jen and Rob just went out with one of her friends.  I didn't feel like going and much to my surprise, he didn't insist (he usually doesn't like to go anywhere without me if one the girl's friends are involved.  I haven't walked yet today as I decided to sleep in for once and didn't get up until 10:30 - late for me, or anyone I guess.  Hope you have a great day!

Debbi,

Sunday dinner and NO PASTA.......why didn't I think of that!!  My in-laws would never darken my door step if I did that.  Oh yeah, several years ago on Thanksgiving I didn't serve the pies quick enough so my in-laws left in a huff.  You see my cousin and I where having too much of a good time washing dishes. ???  Get this, my in-laws never celebrate "TANKS DAY" until I married Louie.

Hope your dinner went well and I hope you got some rest.  Yeah I know all about the noise level ;)

Anne Marie - come on now - pie comes before washing dishes!  What's wrong with you???   :D

Oh well, at least after they left in a huff, there was more pie for you, right?  Or did they take theirs to go?

Lori,

Nope they left without the pie!!!  Unfortunately once they got home, they called and spoke to my husband.............gosh he got an ear full, about me being selfish and inconsiderate.  According to his father, I should have served the pie before I did the dishes.  I don't know about your house but in my house I like to clean up before I serve the coffee and pie.  It gives me a chance to sit down and enjoy also!  That's was just one of many memorable battles.   :'(
