Hey Brian- can't beleive you're gonna be in the "big house" all weekend - that sucks (oh, can I say that here???)  How about if I have a beer for you, or a glass of really nice wine??  You know, I got out of the hospital (dragging my picc line) the Friday of Memorial Day weekend - we need to stop this holiday weekend-back-in-the-hospital trend we've got going...    Maybe Jenni can bring the kids and you can have a picnic in the hospital ... they probably won't let you fire up the grill, but maybe you can find a bunson burner somewhere ...  Isn't it great that you can get internet at the hospital, though?  It was the only thing that saved me from complete and total death by boredom during my second trip.  hang in there, my friend.

I think Lori's upcoming beach vacation has distracted her from the serious business of getting this garage surgery thing off the ground.   :o  jan, aren't you supposed to be surpervising this endeavor????

Jan:

I think Brian was using a figure of speech.  He probably feels like he takes 100 pills a day...but you knew that.  ;)

As for the inability to pronounce tongue twisters: Even though my diction is good, that exercise was always difficult but fortunately, I don't have much occasion to recite those silly phrases in public so my weakness in that area has remained a secret...until now.
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

It feels like they come in and hook me up for IV meds 100 times. as Jim said, but it's more like 6 or 8 times a day.  They've come in to do twice today already.  Yea!

Yeah, being in here alll weekend does suck but Jenni and the kids are supposed to come visit today sometime.  I think the nurses would quickly douse the flames of any appliance and quickly steal my beer.  Oh well.  Part of the "exicitement" yesterday was them taking a cig away from someone on the floor who just had surgery and wanted to light up.  Go figure, at a non-smoking campus and after brain surgery too!

Yet another Jim mystery.  Who are you, again?  ;)

Debbi-

Guess you can, or else we'd be looking at something like this "s****"  :D

And the "big house" ? - sounds like Brian's in jail  :D

Actually, Jim, I didn't realize that Brian was just kidding.  I read his post about 2 minutes before walking out the door for the annual parade and thought he was totally serious  :o  Guess I shouldn't have taken him literally  ::)

Brian -

thank God I misinterpreted your post.  100 times would have been way too much!

Well, in anticipation of the garage surgery business really picking up, I figured I should take a beach vacation and sell some sea shells.  Or sleep in some sand in the sun.  Or sip some suds while seeing the seagulls soaring.

Hey, maybe Kay can set up a grill in the hospital parking lot and deliver burgers to Brian and the rest of the patients!  Could be a big money maker!

If I was clever enough to insert a picture of a burger or a grill or something, I'd do it - unfortunately, I can't for the life of me figure out how to embed a picture in a post...

So, Brian, just use your imagination and imagine that I'm sending you a burger hot off the grill ... turkey, veggie, or beef?  Cheese with that?  Nice cold beer?  Oops, darn that nurse, she just snatched the beer right out of my hand!   :D

Hey, Brian, while you're stuck in the big house, maybe you can sneak out some of those nifty gloves - gonna need them for the Garage Surgery biz ...  Keep your eyes open for any interesting tools, too - you've got Jenni so don't use that IV thing as an excuse.  Get busy, man!

Okay, enough silliness for now - check back later.  Meanwhile, Brian, try to have some kind of fun while you're there.

Yes, gloves will be helpful.  We can blow them up like balloons and make them look like turkeys.

Oh, I guess we could wear them too - cleanliness is almost as important as surgical glove turkeys.

Tell Jenni to wear a big coat with pockets when she comes to pick you up - just think of the stuff she can "borrow"!

Debbi -

I think you're coming along great!  You look fantastic!  Trust me - much better than I look at almost 17 months!

Glad you liked the turkey idea!  Can you tell I used to work in pediatrics?  I can also make a blown up glove look like one of the doctors I used to work with - he had kinda spiky blonde hair.  The kids always thought that was funny!  If I ever decide not to be a nurse anymore, I suppose I could become a clown and make balloon animals.   :D
