I didn't even know that NH had an airport  ???  But then again, so does Rhode Island - I'm assuming  :D

Pooter, I could handle Houston.

I'm all for traveling - and I've never been to Texas.

My brother lived in Dallas for a while - when he worked for RJR Nabisco - and although I had good intentions, I never got around to visiting.

We could get Phyl a cowboy hat to help with her hair issue.

BTW, I'd imagine it's hot in Houston in August.  Got a pool?  :D

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

I don't have a pool personally, but if you can use your muscle within the ANA to get the symposium down here, I'll rent one if I need to.. :)

Just a popcorn thought, but we could get Steve to knit us all cowboy hats to wear.. Hahah..

Surely, it would be hot in Houston in August.. I wouldn't be so bold as to try and tell you that it's a "dry heat", but it's an enjoyable place with lots to do.  I would even talk to my doctor about presenting.

Have I convinced anyone yet?  :)

Jan,

I think you just parachute out over RI if you need to go there.   ;D  And now that I think about it, I hate the airports at all of the above mentioned cities.  Well, except for Alaska - never been there....brrrrr..   I'll put in my request now for the Moderator Jet for the NEXT symposium.

I think it should be in Virginia Beach so I won't have to travel at all!  And who needs a pool when you've got a great big ocean?

I was thinking Houston earlier and I will provide a pool - I have direct access to 2 and they are both quite large!!  I bet I could get Dr. Byrne to come so he could see his good friend!

The Pacific Northwest, Skamania Lodge in particular, is clearly the best choice of all. Maybe OHSU would care to sponsor it.  ;D

Well, I'm actually going to Seattle next August on business - this year it's San Diego - but Atlanta, Houston, and Virginia Beach all sound great to me.

Geez, I sound like I actually have a choice in this matter  ::)  :D

Someone forward this thread to Judy V - quick; before the decision is made  ;D

Lori -

if you like big airports - and I do mean BIG - you'll love O'Hare.  The United terminal alone is amazing!  And everything is connected - not at all like Boston  :P

Have I mentioned I don't like the Boston airport?  Oh yeah, and that pink one that's in Florida somewhere.  Is it Miami?

Yes, I was stuck in O'Hare for 8 hours with 3 kids a few years ago.  Very pleasant memories of that....I don't recall Miami airport being pink, but I remember having to walk 50 miles to get to the baggage claim and the rental cars.  I know the airport in Key West is pink and so is the one in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

I actually like the one here in Nashville and the one in Virginia Beach - just the right size.  And the people here have a good sense of humor because over the defibrillators, there's a sign that says "For your Achy Breaky Heart" with a big arrow.  How creative they are here in Music City.

I'll go to Seattle if you promise it won't rain.

O'Hare? 9 hours? 3 kids?  Now THERE'S some fun  ;D  Glad it was you and not me  :D

Never actually saw the Key West airport.  When we went, the winds were so bad - tropical storm brewing - that they wouldn't let us get on the little plan to fly there.  We had to take a bus - compliments of United Airlines :P  I remember being so ticked off that I didn't fly United for years - like the weather was their fault  LOL  The seven mile bridge seemed like it was 27 miles!  But the trip to Captain Tony's Saloon the next day kind of made me forget all about that nice bus ride  ;)

Maybe the pink airport I recall is in Fort Lauderdale?  Or maybe I'm just thinking about all those pink plastic flamingoes that grace the front lawns in some Florida suburbs ::)

I've never been to Music City - so that would be fine with me.  We could all go to Dollywood or Opryland - I hear the Opryland Hotel is very nice.  And while I'm not a Billy Ray Cyrus fan, even I have to admit the signs over the shock boxes sound pretty clever.

If it rains in Seattle, Steve can provide us all with rain bonnets.  Afterall, he's our official hat guy  8)

Oh Nancy - only been to Maine once, but i LOVE lobsta!  And while i was there in early August 2006, it was 100+ degrees at my home in VA.

Lori - VA Beach sounds really good! (I am biased being from VA as well!)
So many good possibilities!

DC would be interesting, and has 3 major area airports, lots of free museums, monuments etc.
The problem would be the heat in August - yucky!

OK - i am back to voting for Maine - anybody want to take a boat ride and see the whales?  ;D
Then we can get a standup paddleboard lesson from Stoneaxe.
Lori - we could plan a 'road' trip and rent the RV, as suggested earlier.

Is the Symposium always in August?  How about Hawaii in Sept? (Nice thought, but yes, i am kidding....)
