Hi Joann,
I agree with Syl 100%. Post op is a completely new way of life. Find out about PT, vestibular therapy, acute fatigue, Depression, spousal /caretaker support. You may sail through this with no after effects, but it is great to be prepared. A lot of old school surgeons just know how to cut, go in, remove and sew up. I had the shock of my life when I had my stitches removed, and was told " come back in 2 months " I was sitting there suffering from most of the worst post op side effects, I asked the Dr " what can I do" and he said " nothing " I did not know about this website or anything else about my recovery. I had my surgery 2 1/2 years ago and you can pull up my story. The great news now is that I have this website and new found friends Nancy L and LA David who know exactly what post AN life is like. There are tons of things you can do to help with your recovery, Just don.t leave the Dr's office in tears feeling helpless like I did. Arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible, and I would always recommend a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Good Luck.
Lainie.
