Copies of CT + MRI
« on: January 12, 2009, 06:29:44 pm »
Hi guys n' gals

Got the CD's of my CT and MRI scans today pre and post op. Now don't get jealous but the hospital handed them over for free  ;D.

I have had a look at them and err boy was that a big tumour. 5cm + in size.

Just thought I'd share that with you all ;D.

Feels like a huge weight has been lifted and now you can look back at what was causing these problems, just amazing...

My doc came in with pics of the tumor inside my head :o Let's just put it this way, no lunch for me.

Hey Kit, can you figure out a way to get a screen capture of the MRI, and post it as a pic? Some of us like to look at the big ones, and go ooh and aah. 5 cm should do.  8)

Steve

hahahaha. I'll do what I can for you but how do I post the image in a post so all can see without squinting to look for my brain which the surgeon discovered quivering behind the tumour. Incidentally I have taken down the 'space for sale' sign.

These instructions were blatantly stolen from one of Jan's post, so anything that doesn't work blame her.  ;)

"Go to http://photobucket.com and sign up - it's free.

Once you move your photos to photobucket, it's easy to copy the image.  Look for a series of boxes under each photo that say "email & IM", "direct link", "HTML code" and "IMG code"  Position your mouse on IMG code and left click.  A yellow box that says "copied" will appear.

Next go to the forum and create a new subject.  In the text of the post, just right click with your mouse and chose "paste".

You will see a set of brackets with the letters IMG in them and the address of your photobucket photo inserted between the brackets.

If you have numerous photos to post, just copy and paste each IMG code."

That should upload the photos just fine.  Just scan them first, then upload.  If I can ever get a copy of my films, I'll post too, but I'm with Steve that a 5+cm one would be a great one to share! ;)

Brian

Can't wait to see the pics.  I still marvel at my initial MRI.  I actually thought about including a screen grab in our Christmas letter this year, but my husband assured me that it would be in poor taste...  Well, I know I could send it to all of you guys!

The picture is of me before I knew what was wrong with me.
It was taken in the spring of 2008 in the smokies.

Actually wooooah! What a blessing it is to see that pic and "it" (AN) is now removed.... Wow... Like my wife says we are miracles. Congrats on your recovery and hope you continue in good health. It is an encouragement to see that picture and to then see ya posting about your experience.

Oooh. Aahhhh.  ;D

Well you were right, Kit, that is no small potato you had stuck in your head. It is really quite amazing that A) it can get that big, right on the brain stem like that; B) they can get it out, and C) you are well enough afterwards to be able to post a picture of it on photobucket and link it in a post here!

I have to assume that no matter what you are dealing with now, you must be feeling better with that thing out of you. I hope you continue to heal well, and that your giant AN days are all behind you.

I'll add to the "Ohh" and "Ahh" crowd!  Thanks for posting it!  I'm glad the instructions that I blatantly stole from Jan worked.  ;)  I'm with Steve in that I bet your glad that thing is gone!

Steve,

I consider myself a walking talking miracle because the only symptoms I have left over from the surgery is a little double vision when I look down and that is better than it was immediately post op when I had full double vision. and had to wear an eye patch over my left eye and SSD in my right ear.  My double vision should eventually go completely by September this year.To look at me you wouldn't think I'd ever had a brain tumour.

This is a screen shot of a post op scan the white line against the brain stem is the membrane to the tumour that is stuck to the brain stem which my surgeon decided to leave in place and may in the future use Gamma Knife if the tumour starts to show signs of regrowing.

I think your surgeon was very wise to leave it in place. Pulling tape off of your skin is one thing; pulling off something stuck to your brain stem is quite another.  :o

If you ever have to get it radiated, which is possible but not particularly likely, it will be a piece of cake. More like getting another MRI than anything else.

I have to say nice job to your surgeon. I hope the empty space fills in with something useful.  :D
