Translab-Surgery 2/17--SUCCESSFUL!-out of hosp 2/21
« on: February 15, 2006, 09:37:46 pm »
Well Surgery time is finally here. I go in around 5am Friday morning for Translab. Time has gone by quickly (I was diagnosed mid October) Back then it seemed so far away. I think I'm doing OK-but my nerves are getting the best of me. I have my "moments".
I still have tomorrow to get things ready. My biggest support is my husband. I also have my family. I know this is in God's hands. It's just so scary not knowing the outcome. I've read all the posts here & I know that I have a good support group here no matter what the outcome is.

Hi, Josnik,

You will be fine like many of us.  In fact the size of your AN is about the same of mine.  I wish you a very successful surgery, speed recovery and, most of all, a peaceful mind from God with you and your family.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Best of luck to you! I just had surgery on 2/1 and I'm feeling good. It'll all be over soon and then you can move on with life!

Good luck!

My husband and I will be sending extra thoughts and prayers your way. We are both originally from Pittsburgh. I have wondered if I had not moved to Georgia maybe I wouldn't have
gotten the AN but I guess they exist in PA too. The night before my surgery, after taking our three kids to a friends home, my husband decided that I would have a better outcome if
I got a good nights rest.  I had too many things to still take care of and really didn't feel like sleeping. He called the doctor on call at the hospital and asked if I should be given a sleeping
pill. The doctor said I would be sleeping plenty the next day and that if I did not feel like sleeping it would be OK.

josnik:  by the time you are able to read this the idea that you've survived brain surgery will seem.....well it's hard to describe ain't it! I hope you have a smooth period of recovery and know that in even a couple of days from the day you read this you will feel better and before you know it .... it will all seem like a bad dream. Well I'm home as of Tuesday(2/21) morning! The surgery was a success-- got all of the tumor and no sign of facial weakness.
balance is ok--still getting around slowly. Now the healing process begins. Thank you all for your support. I could not have done it without this site. I thank all of my doctors and nurses as well at Allegheny General Hospital (Dr Chen & Dr Baghai) in Pittsburgh, PA. The surgery took about 8 1/2 hrs.
