finally....a vacation of sorts
« on: March 21, 2009, 06:34:43 am »
Hi gang,
I'm off to Florida for few days to see my mom then to meet my friend Andrea and another friend for 3 days at the beach.  I am so excited!  It's really my first non-work related trip and even though I'm leaving my husband behind, I am excited.  I shall be taking my pain and numbness with me and hope to leave it at the beach!  I will be offline for about a week.  Be well all.

i think my wife would have changed that sentence around to..... "I'm excited that I'm leaving my husband behind"... :o just kidding of course...i think.... ;)

A surefire recipe to leave the pain and numbness at the beach.

1. Find and area of smooth sand with a slight incline (base of a dune is perfect) with a stunning view in front of it.

2. Dig a hole approx. 18" wide, 18" deep, and 3' long. The front and rear should slope to the deepest point in the center.

3. Place a large beach blanket over the hole and press firmly down  into place.

4. Place a large (very large) thermos of frozen pina coladas next to the blanket along with your beach approved plastic glass.

5. Carefully lower yourself into place into the depression.

6. Enjoy the view, the sun and the pina coladas.

7. Laugh along with your friends when you try to get out of the hole.... ;D

Have fun.

Have a great trip, Marci!  Wave to JO as you're passing St. Augustine!

Stoneaxe, my husband makes himself a "lounge chair" just like that every year at the beach!  It really is very comfy!

Marci ~

Those end-of-winter vacations in Florida are a great way to relax and unwind.  Seeing your mom and your friends should make it even better.  I'm sure you'll be rejuvenated after soaking up some Florida sunshine.  Even if you do have to go sans hubby, I'm confident you'll enjoy the vacation.  Be sure to bring back a souvenir for him.

We'll look forward to your 'report' in a week or so.  Meanwhile, know that a lot of your AN friends in the north and mid-west will be with you in spirit as you bask in the Florida sun.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Oh Marci that sounds like so much fun!!!
I think you should put your pain and numbness into a bottle and throw it into the water.   :P
Enjoy the beach, your mom, friends and maybe a glass of wine or two.  ::)
Relax and recharge!

Florida is indeed lovely this time of year--no wonder it's also full of touristas right now!

Say hello to the dolphins and pelicans for me.  Which coast?

Call if you need bail money!

Have fun!
