I could use some prayers, too...
« on: May 11, 2009, 05:56:27 pm »
Well, since you guys are so good with the prayers, I would appreciate whatever you can do for me.  This is a non-AN matter, but I'm scared, nonetheless.  I take generic Fosamax for osteoporosis.  I expressed my concerns to my doctor and he said that "jaw death" was rare.  I said, "Well, we all know that "rare" happens!"  I went off the drug for awhile, but my tests came back and he said...better take the drug, you are losing bone.  So I went back on it.  Now, wouldn't you just know it....I had a problem with a lower tooth and turns out, in January, I had to go to the endodonist because at the tip of an old root canal and I had some bone infection there.  Dentist knew about the fosamax stuff and said it was rare to have a problem.  Things were okay after he treated me, but now I have some tenderness in that gum area.  I'm terrified that something horrible is going on.  I'm going to the dentist tomorrow at 8 AM.  To add to my anxiety, my husband's dental plan doesn't cover anything but a regular root canal, and none of that procedure was covered.  I have no idea what is going to happen next (my imagination has me in the hospital with my jawbone being taken out!)...but I would appreciate good thoughts, a few prayers. divine intervention, kind words, whatever you can do.  I'm thinking all sorts of things, but mainly I'm just saying, "Oh Great, Just Freakin' Great!!"   And since I'm freaking out, I thought I'd turn to the best support group in the whole, wide world.  I need some massive huggles, that's for sure. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Freakin' out in Vancouver,
Sue

Sue, of course we will pray for you. I happen to be a world-class worrier, so I turn a lot to Matthew 6. My husband and I even chose this for our wedding text.

Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I hope that you find this comforting.

The best I can do is wish that it all dental in nature. I bet it is just another root canal issue, but that is just another brand of misery. :P

I hope it all ends soon.

None of us need any more things to worry about!  I will certainly keep you in my prayers.  Like Steve, I cannot help but feel that this is going to be dental in nature ..... let's hope that is correct!

Well, never thought I'd wish for a root canal! HA    :D

Thank you, thank you.  Knew I could count on you all for support.  I appreciate the scripture also.  Very sweet.  I may have to put that on the Fridge!  ;)

I'll let you know.  It's not the end of the world....it's just, you know...ANOTHER thing and "things" never come at a convenient time..if there is such a thing.

But I keep forgetting, I'm winning the lottery tonight!

Thank you again, sweet ones.

Sue,
Prayer, good thoughts and lots of positive energy coming your way.  I am having bone grafts in my lower jaw.  Is that something you might benefit from?  I have a nine month course of treatment I am on from my dentist.  It is expensive, but necessary.  Keep us posted, we care.
Hugs,

Hello Everyone,

Thank you so much for your kind support in my moment of dental anxiety!  I have good news to report!!  The dentist was very nice, told me not to worry about it because the x-ray shows that everything is okay.  It is slow to heal, probably because of the fosamax and possibly because I'm diabetic too.  There is a little scar tissue down there and that is making it a bit tender still.  The tender part is the point of entry when he did the bone repair in January.  He said I can come back anytime to have it checked.  So...it's okay, I'm okay....my visions of jaw replacement can go back into the closet and not come out again.  Ever.  And no charge for the visit or x-ray!  My kind of guy.  ;) ;D

Thanks guys.
