Picture on Profile
« on: June 30, 2009, 11:08:23 am »
Stupid question. How do I get a picture setup on my profile? The help menu looks like it is saying I need a web site to do it? I am pretty tech savy and I know it has to be easier than that.

Basically you upload your photo to a photo hosting site, for example www.photobucket.com.  Then you use the photobucket (img) link in your ANA profile.   There are more detailed instructions available if your do a search.

You cannot post a photo directly from your hard drive.

Try this:   Upload your photo to Photobuckethttp://photobucket.com/register.php?ref=homejoin

Copy the URL of the photo you've posted on Photobucket.

Once you've posted the photo there, place your mouse over the photo, then right click to see "Properties".

Open "Properties" and copy the entire URL line.

Then, come back here, prepare "post" and "insert" using the "insert image" icon and "paste" the link between the "Insert image" brackets.

Voilà!

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Great picture!  It always helps to have a visual of each other.

Does this system distort the photos? I tried posting one and it looked weird, squished from side to side.
Facial nerve hemangioma. Probable dx 7/2008 confirmed 4/2009. Combo middle fossa and translab to remove the blood vessel malformation and snip ruined hearing and balance nerves by Drs. House and Brackmann @ House 6/2009. Doing great!

It does distort them. Your best bet is to crop the picture to a square. It is okay if it is bigger than a postage stamp, but it will be forced into a square in your profile, so starting with a square works the best.

That is what I did - I cropped it because I realized I had no pictures of myself - just me and my two girls and not that many of those...I seem to take all the photos, not be in them! :D...so I cropped out my two kids and it was a square and it doesn't seem to be squishy.

I AM SO GLAD THAT SOMEONE ASKED THE QUESTION REGARDING THE PICTURE ON THE PROFILE. I COULD NOT FIGURE
OUT HOW TO ADD IT ON EITHER, BUT DIDN'T ACTUALLLY WANT TO ASK. NOW I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ADD MY FAVORITE
FAIRY AND MOON PICTURE. I WILL GET HUBBY TAKE A CLOSE UP AND WILL ADD THAT EVENTUALLY, NOW THAT WE ALL
GOT THE CORRECT DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO DO IT. MANY THANKS, ALSO TO bsharpintexas FOR ASKING FIRST. ;D
