Please pray for Jason..
« on: September 08, 2009, 11:34:02 am »
All, I got an update on Jason.  Some of you may remember he had surgery a few weeks back.  Here's the update and please keep them all in your prayers:

"Had a third surgery to install shunt. all went well with surgery but his cerebral spinal fluid pressure was still high. Come to find out Jason carries a very high level of csf...only 2% of men have this...it's usually women..go figure. He had a hard time after this surgery which should have been a piece of cake compared to the first two. Had terrific headaches. Was more swollen around face and ear this time and they didn't mess with that. He then developed a sore neck and shoulders and thought he had meningitis. After three days we find out he didn't...thank God. Attempted three times to get fluid during first spinal tap and couldn't get any. Tried the next day and got some after tilting him face down to counter shunt. Still has three staples behind ear where the csf seems to always leak from. I hope this takes care of his problem. Thanks for the info. We hope to make it but just taking it one day at a time. Praying for a full recovery but know that we must be patient."

Regards,

Brian

Brian ~

Thanks for the update on Jason.  He's certainly has had his share of medical problems to deal with.  However, things seem to be looking up, at last.  Jason will be in my prayers and those of many others, I'm sure.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

The same thing happened to me (and, unfortunately, more) during my 1988 surgery. Bad times do come to an end and there is life after that, GOOD life, although it is hard to believe at the moment. As far as the shunt is concerned, it is still with me. It does not bother me at all but it sure is a bad memory. It actually started my healing process and allowed me to get out of the hospital. Hope it is also beginning of healing for Jason!

Right side AN (6x3x3 cm) removed in 1988 by Drs. Benjamin & Cohen at NYU (16 hrs); nerves involved III - XII.
Regrowth at the brainstem 2.5 cm removed by Dr.Shahinian in 4 hrs at SBI (hopefully, this time forever); nerves involved IV - X with VIII missing. No facial or swallowing issues.

Pooter -

I don't remember Jason  :-[

Can someone provide us with a link to a previous thread, so I can get up to speed?

Regardless, I'll keep him in my prayers.

Thanks, Sue.

I guess I missed this thread; sometimes there are just so many.

From Pooter's initial updates it sounded like Jason was doing well; I'm sorry to hear that's no longer the case.

I'll definitely add him and his family to my prayers.
