Brian,

Since Blondie can't make it, why don't you pick me up on the 28th and we can go to Jamaica?  First rum punch is on me.

Hahah...  Been to Jamaica.  We stayed at Half Moon Bay Resort in Montego Bay (reportedly the only resort UPGRADED to a 5-Star on the island; there are others built as a 5-Star).  Luckily, my work paid for it.  The place was great and it was a big resort.. HOWEVER, the couple of times we ventured away from the resort it got scary fast.  Now, if we can convince Phyl to take us all to Half Moon Bay and pay for our hotel (all inclusive; meals, drinks, etc...), I'm in!

Regards,
Brian
Diagnosed 4/10/08 - 3cm Right AN

Didn't they just have an earthquake in the Cayman Islands today?  Think I'll skip that.

If you go to Jamaica you have to go to Negril.  Kind of a scary ride on twisty roads with crazy drivers, but worth the trip.  I recommend drinking the rum prior to getting in the shuttle!   :o  That's where I got married.  In Negril - not the shuttle on the way to Negril!

Kathy -

it's a date.  Cincinnati 2011.

We'll plan a Forumites get-together.

Drinks are on Steve  ;)  ;D

Jan

PS -  Lori?  Seriously?  Negril?  It wasn't on one of those "clothing optional" beaches was it?  :D

Phyl

I'm with Phyl - love Grand Caymen [but did they really have an earthquake?!]
Any beach would be nice this week - another storm brewing for the Southeast, with ice AND snow predicted (tonight) for my area in the Northern Shenandoah Valley,VA.

Kathy - Can't wait to meet you in Cinci!
Jan - Free drinks, that is awesome!  Anywhere with margaritas is acceptable to me!
Lori - do you want to carpool from Virginia?  Maybe Keri will join us.  Then we can make it a real road trip - fun all the way there and back!
Pooter - Grand Caymen is awesome, you can ride the local buses and go all over the island without worry.  Nobody peddling on the beaches, no problem.  We even 'hitchhiked' with a local resident when we realized the bus we took to the Botanical Gardens was the last one of the day!  The lovely woman at the ticket booth helped us secure a ride, it was great!  We stayed at the Westin on 7 mile beach.  Later, my friend from VA rented a condo and spent Christmas there with her entire family-awesome!

I know that wherever there are Forumites, there will be fun!

Well, how the he** did I  miss this string???  Am I too late for a tropical island and maybe a leer jet ride??  As I sit here in NJ suffering through a relentless cold winter, nothing sounds better than beach ... and maybe some rum.

Cincinnati should be loads of fun!  And, Brian, you and Jen had BETTER be there this time!!

Sue, a road trip sounds fun!  Probably dangerous and loud too, but definitely fun!!!!  I'm picturing Thelma and Louise, but with a much happier ending.   ;D

Jan, NO, it wasn't clothing optional where we were, but if you turned to the right, there was a pretty good view of it!  Eeeekkk!  Needless to say, I looked straight ahead at the good reverend the whole time (he had clothes on too, of course).

Kathy, you do realize that if you don't CHOOSE to go to the symposium, we now know you are nearby and you will be taken against your will!   ;D  Don't fight it - remember who you're dealing with here!  That Jan is just nuts and she's taller than me so I won't be able to stop her!   ;)

It's cold in Virginia Beach today too - I say we cruise around in the Mod Jet til we find a warm one somewhere.  Anywhere there's rum will be okay with me!

Is the symposium normally held at the same hotel that people stay at?

Oh sure, mock me!  What?  You've been talking to Pooter lately?  Is this a conspiracy?  LOL

Gary to answer your question, I don't know about symposiums past but the one in Chicago was held @ The Drake and lots of us stayed there.  The ANA got a group room rate for those making reservations - and I'd imagine they'll do the same in 2011.

Some attendees stayed at other hotels nearby and obviously that is totally acceptable.

Someone who has been to symposiums past - like Cheryl R - can tell you what has happened historically.

Hope to see you there.

Deb -  sounds like you're in.  Excellent news!!!  Hope you're bringing Willie with you.
