Bp 100 too sensitive?
« on: January 18, 2010, 09:05:56 am »
I got my BP 100 two weeks, upgraded from the Divino. I'm the second person the audiologist dispensed to(the first was a child). I think she has it turned up too loud but anyone else have one and have long hair??? When I put it on, the sound of my hair moving drives me nuts. I always turn it down and then I'm not sure how well its working.

And when I have it on and press the buttons on the microwave...I hear beeps in my head that are not the microwave. Anyone else???

I think it's better than the Divino, the buttons are harder to work and I hate the fact that you put the battery in and it's on and squealing. I always turn it off before I attach it. I can't stand the squealing.

So my questions, can you "hear" your hair? and does your microwave cause extra beeps???

Boy those are questions I never thought I'd ask....:)

I don't have the answers to your questions, but I also wondering when the last time was that I heard those questions..  can't think of a time.    Perhaps the audiologist can program a filter for your hair the the microwave...  That'd drive me crazy (well, crazier than I already am..)   ;D

I hope you find relief.

Hi Pembo,

I have experienced ALL those same issues, (and more  :P). It took a couple of months before I was truly happy with my BP100.

What worked for me was having the audiologist turn the feedback manager "off". I know it sounds odd, that turning it off actually reduces the feedback, but it worked wonders.
I work in a store where I am constantly exposed to all kinds of alarms and beeps, I was always hearing "shadow" tones.

I also have long hair, and it did annoy me at first that I could hear my hair when I turned my head. My doctor told me I would get used to it the more I wore it. I didn't believe it, but after a couple of weeks I did. I only notice it now if I touch my hair with my hand.

I do put my BP100 on when it's on, because I was told you had to have it turned off for 15 minutes to reset the program. Since putting the battery in turns it on, I don't want to turn if off again and then wait. I have learned to snap it on quickly, so it's less annoying.

Hang in there, it does get better!

Wow.  Very interesting post.  Wonder if I'll have to get my hair cut once I get my BP100  ???

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

I only wore mine for a week before the constant feedback/whistling/shadow tones drove me nuts to the point that I quit wearing it until I can get back to have the programming tweaked.  But yes, hearing my hair drove me crazy too, so I kept putting it in a ponytail to get it out of the way.  Between living 100 miles from my audiologist, the holidays, and the head cold that caused my eustachian tube to stop up to the point that I couldn't hear right AT ALL, I haven't managed to get back to have my programming fixed yet.  I was his first BP100 patient, btw.

Well, looking on the bright side, I could definitely use a haircut - been thinking about it for months  :D

Seriously.  The good news is of all the people who have had problems with their BP100s, I think the majority - if not all - of them had their problems resolved.

I'm really looking forward to my upgrade - and my new MP3 adapter!  ;D (1/2 price on the Cochlear website, BAHA users!)

Will let you know what I think in a few weeks.

Hi Jan,

I am interested in the MP3 adapter, but when I went to the website it was listed as $247. Do you have a link to the 1/2 priced one you mentioned?

Thanks,

Yep, that's the link.  Thanks, Saralynn  ;D

I ordered myself a Cochlear water bottle, too.
