The End-Game
« on: July 09, 2010, 09:11:45 am »
;D That's right, the Doctor is definitely on the mend. I just returned from a visit with the Radiation Oncologist. A review of last weeks MRI brought great news. What's left of my AN is little more than a small gray mass, compared to the nearly 5cm in diameter monster it used to be. I was complimented on my much improved appearance since we last met and Dr. McLaughlin continues to encourage me to push hard and stay positive.

My Brain Stem has nearly fully recovered its straight posture and the Brain has decompressed, filling in the space once occupied by Tumor. I do have some lingering issues like continuing poor balance and a bum left eye but like they say, its certainly better than the alternative.

CyberKnife Treatment after Translab De-Bulking Surgery appears to have worked for me. July 30th is the one year anniversary of my surgery...there will be a party that night...it's a Friday too, no school the next day!

Take Care!
  ;)

Left-Translab July '09. Cyberknife Jan 2010. In Apr 2017, four more tumors found; three in the brain and one, 7cm long, on my spinal cord; it was surgically removed. It was cancerous, and so are the others. I've been receiving Chemo since June '18, and I'm still in treatment.

Doc ~

Great news!  Thanks for the update and the embedded lesson that most AN surgery/radiation problems do resolve, in time.   Have a fabulous celebration - you've earned it!

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
