Facial movements & a cold water response
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:03:24 am »
1st time on here so slightly careful.  Had radiation treatment in 2006 for a tumour diagnosed in 2005.  All went OK and follow up MRI showed things OK.  Recently ( 3 months ago ) I was showering and suffered a large facial drop, eye closed and mouth dropped.  Don't know why but my response was to turn the shower to cold and work my mouth, slowly the mouth lifted and the eye opened.  Worried I made an appointment to see my normal doctor, who was a little lost for what had happened.  Anyway have suffered the same a few times again, each time a cold pack ( even frozen food out of the freezer ) has been applied and slowly things have returned to normal.  Because I feel a little more confident if any twitching begins that I can if I act quickly deal with the matter it has made life a little easier.  Is this treatment using cold/ice normal or am I barking up the wrong tree.

hi Lambo:  As I started reading your post I thought 'could be bell's palsy due to a virus,'  until you said you ran cold water on your face.  WOW - I have never heard of this before.  Have you checked with a neurologist about this ?  A specialist might have some ideas rather than a general doc.  I'll be curious to know what's said...
Always good thoughts,  Nancy

Hello Nancy

Thanks for your comments, I'm based in England and Nurologists arn't perphaps as readily available as in other countries.  What is happening however is that I'm slowly able to increase water temperatures whilst showering - still odd tingling but nothing like as bad.  Perphaps what I was experiencing was a time related matter following the GK, perphaps the tumour is changing, not doubt my next MRI scan ( which I loath ) may shed some light.  Anyway many thanks for your interest, I have to say that looking through other questions, I appeared to get away lightly with my Tumour  :) .  Thanks again.  :)
