Posting Pictures
« on: August 16, 2006, 09:41:57 am »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just thought I'd re-post this for newbies who want to post pics. I've communicated with the forum admin about setting up a thread in the welcome message about how to navigate this site for newbies--adding a signature, posting pics, private messages, etc. He thought it was a great idea.  Anyone out there want to help? I'm still figuring things out here and I'm certainly no techie--I call everything a thingie.

Joef added a Frappr group. To get pics on the ANA forum--this seems to be the easiest way.
Go to:  http://www.frappr.com/acousticneuroma

Set up a frappr page for yourself, it's totally free. You'll want to go to "my frappr" and follow the directions for setting up your own frappr page. I can't tell ya step by step howta do this cuz it recognizes me and won't send me to a blank set up page.  Uploading the pics is easy once you get to the "my photos" page. You can browse thru your computer and upload what you want .You can save them in "acoustic neuroma" as well as on your own page.

Once ya get a frappr page ya can download pics into the text or put one in your screename box. I'll tell ya how--

RIGHT click on yer frappr photo that you want to download to the Forum

Go to "properties"

Highlight the reeeaaal long number thingy that comes up

Hit Ctrl C (for copy)

Pull up either a forum reply page or your own forum profile

Profile: Paste (ctrl V)the thingy into where it says URL under modify profile--it will be in the right hand part of the page

Thread
reply:

Click on the picture Icon above the faces--2nd one on the left

Paste the thingy you copied in between the brackets that come up.

You will not see the pic in the reply box or on the forum profile page, you will see the loooong number/letter thingy.

If you see a box with a red x in it on either page--you are almost there! You probably left-clicked instead of right clicked.

Voila!  I hope!!

Now---we wanna see some pictures of yourselves!!!! It is so great to put a face with a name!!!!

Nan..... I'll bring a camera to our Seattle Brunch in Sept and take some photos for this site. (I still need to get downtown Seattle and scout out some locations for our brunch.)

Thanks Capt Deb for explaining how to get a photo on this site. I couldn't figure it out myself.  I just added one of me sitting at my computer.

Thanks for telling me how to post my photo. However, I'm not exactly thrilled with how it is coming out.  It is distorted or something.  I don't look quite THAT wide.  So how do I get if off of here.  I click on the button to tell it that I don't want it anymore, and it doesn't work!!

I lost any photogenic quality years and years ago.

Ã‚ Went to the web site and checked out your paintings.I like your style capt!Your bio makes you sound so "serious" which we have all seen evidence to the contrary. I graduated from OCAD here in Toronto many years ago in textile and jewelry design. My regular job doesn't leave much room for creativity but I manage to do things at home when the "urge" hits.Back to my regular job,I manage a toy store called TREASURE ISLAND TOYS we also have a giant 20ft pirate ship in the middle of the store that serves for display.Customers collect 'pirate points' when they shop and we wear t shirts with "crew" on the back.I think I was destined to end up as part of this crew as well...
Thanks Deb for all the wit and wisdom you pass on.  I  come to the site often for a chuckle when I have had a less than stellar day.

Sue:  My pic turned out the same way so I took it off!!  Just go to the profile where you added it and delete the whole long url line then hit the change profile button on the bottom and it will go away.  Mine looked like the house of mirrors images I remember as a kid at the state fair!!  Kathy

before you put the photo on frappr, you have to crop it to the proportions that the forum will allow, which seems to be a square. I kind of eyeballed mine. To delete the photo, go to your forum profile page and delete the long number thingie then go  to the bottom of the page and click "update profile"
