I did it for awhile - really enjoyed how relaxed it made me - I would fall asleep!
Since my facial nerve was cut w/ an end to end attachment, my nerve never came back.
At the time I didn't let him use the electric stimulus w/it, but maybe I should have.
I would recommend giving it a try, at the least for the intense relaxation it provides.

I don't have acupuncture done for face paralysis but I have it done (have appt tonight) and she puts needles on my face (esp. between the eyes). For the ailments she is treating me, there is a large focus of needles on my feet and legs, which generate up to my head (chronic migraines being one of the ailments).

Can't answer your question but maybe checking with the National Board of Acupuncturists would be a thought?  Just my 2 cents.

Had a similar experience with the massage spa I go to.  Never had an issue with them before but I mentioned that I have hemifacial spasms caused by a benign brain tumor (came out in course of conversation).  The massuse left the room immediately, came back several minutes later to quiz me if my doctor had "signed" off that I could get massages etc, etc, etc.  She finally gave me a massage but it was very light & quick then I got escorted out the door.

I used acupuncture for facial paralysis! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is on the fence. I did not have results immediately from it.. But the relaxation it created for me is indescribable. The best thing for facial paralysis/weakness is to relax while your body recovers. This is exactly what it did. It also did help in me having facial spasms more regularly. I would get more color in my face every time I went. I am fully recovered (besides my synkenisis) and I still go!
For me, what got me over my facial paralysis was physical therapy. It was frustrating at first because they made me stand in front of a mirror and "practice" my facial movements. Obviously, this seemed like it did nothing... But they also used an impulse machine and also laid something on my face(sorry.. its been a while), but I started having full movement back after a couple of weeks of this. Hopefully this helps

Try it only if the practitioner is well qualified!!!!  Mine had all sorts of certifications and I trusted her implicitly!  It gave me relief from the pain that comes from nerves in your teeth coming back as well as helping the nerves to heal in my face.  I waited for a while though - kindof the principle of an electric cord - if it's unplugged there's no signal running through it - so until I began to have sensations in my face and some movement I didn't have it done until then.  Be careful who you go to though - don't mess with fly-by-night chiropractors that are dabbling in it - go find someone that has massive training and can be trusted not to hurt you!
