Tinnitus
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:42:33 pm »
I think I may be starting to develop tinnitus.  I would like to know if others experience tinnitus on their a/n side or their good hearing side.  Thank you for your input.

I think I may be starting to develop tinnitus.  I would like to know if others experience tinnitus on their a/n side or their good hearing side.

Both.

I started having tinnitus in my left ear about 7 or 8 years ago. It was a hissing sound like a tire deflating but continuous. Still got that.

The tinnitus in my right ear (AN side) started mid-December 2011 along with other symptoms (imbalance, dry eyes, 90% hearing loss). It took me a few days to realize that I was hearing wind chimes playing Silent Night. Since then the sounds have changed periodically sometimes sounding like a tuning fork, other times like Morse code. Around October 2012 when I had my second MRI, my AN had grown a bit, my hearing on that side was completely gone, my balance was improving slightly and the tinnitus stopped except for rare recurrences of boop, boop sounds and occasionally the hissing I hear on my left side (good ear) moves to my right side.

What kind of noises are you hearing?

And are you experiencing any reduction in hearing ability?

3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

Before I had my surgery, I had tinnitus on my an ear. It's actually the only symptom I had. After my surgery, it is a constant, white noise sound there for me.

I do experience it in my good ear though though, every once in a while. As does every other person on this earth.

If it is not on you're an side, or maybe even if it is I'm not sure, there are vitamins that my mom swears helps with tinnitus when she gets it (although she doesn't has an an.) They didn't work in my case though, for the tinnitus on my an side.

Good luck!
