Tingling/numbness in the scalp
« on: August 20, 2013, 02:35:29 am »
Hi all -

I had GK for my right side AN in May 2013.  So far I've had virtually no symptoms, except maybe slight hearing loss.  Lately, however, I've been having tingling and numbness on my scalp and ears.  Both sides are affected, though not necessarily at the same time.  It comes and goes.  Has anyone else had this?

Thanks!
Cindy

Right side AN 9 mm diagnosed March 2013
GK May 2013 Dr Kondziolka

Hi Cindy,

I have not had Gamma yet, it's coming up in Sept.   For the past year I have had several different symptoms come and go and some have stayed.  I have had numbness around the right edge of my mouth and there was a 3 week period in late May/June where every time I sneezed I had an intense tingling sensation that ran along the right jaw bone right up to my eye only on the AN side of my face.  That symptom lasted 3 weeks and disappeared as quickly as it came.  So I'm just throwing this out there, but maybe what you are feeling is some type of transient symptom that may or may not be brought on by the Gamma Knife treatment.   Hopefully some others who have had Gamma can respond to you, I'd be interested in hearing from others as well.

Cathie
P.S.  I highly doubt it's cooties!   :)

Diagnosed: June 2012, right side AN 1.8cm
June 2013: AN has grown to 2.4 cm.
Gamma Knife: Sept. 11, 2013 Toronto Western Hospital

Spoke to Dr K's nurse practitioner.  She suggested that it was probably spine-related; since I've slipped a disk in my back before and my seating at work is less than ergonomic, I'm sure she is right.

I've had lice before thanks to my younger daughter so I know it isn't that.  Now that was misery . . . ;)

And Cathie, I am three months out and fingers crossed, I have had no symptoms at all.  I hope that's encouraging!!

Thanks for the efforts at assistance, though.  I really appreciate the kindness on these boards!

AJs got her laptop in the bath room again. Sigh ... Well, it gets noisy, but I can't make duck sounds very well on the key board.   :o
