Enamel on right front tooth seems to be removed. Common?

I'm grateful to be well after my surgery June 9, 2006 - nearly 15 weeks ago.

My doctors were terrific - one even called me the night before the surgery to tell me to relax and sleep well.  Impressive! I also appreciate the other doctors I consulted with before deciding to have the surgery at Johns Hopkins, near my daughter and her family.

One thing I noticed right away, and it remains with me now, is that my right front tooth is rough, not smooth like the others.  It's as if the smooth enamel on it had been removed.  I need to see a dentist to see what's going on.
Wonder if anyone else has had this.

Sorry to hear of your troubles - I am not sure this is AN related
when you see your dentist get him to check your bite pattern
ie where and how your teeth meet, and how you chew.
If the yaw muscle function wasnt 100% - you might get an uneven
pattern that would cause wear.
Another possibilty is that if you are having bad dreams/sleep etc
you maybe grinding your teeth at night - more common at the back.
ANs are known for causing nightmares etc.
- there is a nightime gum sheild that the dentist will sort
that will reduce this effect.
Finally discuss diet with the dentist - you maybe low on something
like vitamin D, calcium etc

It might also be related to reduced salivia flow.  Salivia helps to protect the teeth so any reduction might cause a problem, or put any pre  existing problem on fast forward.  Like Tony says it's best to have your dentist check this out.

Good advice.  We're full-time RVers ( 1 year so far and loving it), far from our usual dentist - but I'll find one in a couple of weeks when we settle in a place for two months.  Appreciate all your hypotheses which make sense to me.

My tongue is so sensitive right on the tip that I seldom run it around my teeth these days.  It just starts to hurt.  And yes, my tongue tells me the tooth surfaces are rough now, but I wonder if the tongue sense is just off.  I saw my hygeinist five months post op and she didn't report an enamel change.
