I'm Back!!!
« on: October 07, 2006, 09:17:09 am »
Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to tell you all that I have had my facial surgery and I look soooo good!! I'm still at mly brothers iin Virginia waiting for the last appointment with my reconstructive surgeon. Hopefully, he will put in a gold weight then.  We had to wait for the swelling to go down.  He did a face lift, brow lift, eyes (above and below) and put in a facial sling.  So, now my face no longer has one side pulled down and my eyes are alligned well. The side of my face with the sling needs more time for the swelling to go down, but he explained how it will help with the movement that has already has started on its own.

I love my doctor!! How many times have you guys ever said that??  He's so skilled and really "gets it" when it comes to the emotional aspect of facial paralysis.
His name is Patrick Byrne and works at John Hopkins in Baltimore.  And he's dreamy looking!!!!!

It's good to be posting again!!

Fabulous.  Please post picture of even- more -beautiful -you when you are ready for that.

So glad you love your doctor.  Over the years, I have just been so lucky to have very adorable, smart doctors with good to great personalities that when I hear some of the stories out there about God complexes, mean, incompetent, dismissive, etc doctors,  I just wonder what's going on.  I guess in the great karma bucket of life, it's my compensation for NEVER getting the right man for me;).  Anyway, so glad you have a good one.  s.

Patti,
I am so glad to hear you have found a wonderfull doctor. one we all have dreamed of. The most important thing about a doctor is if they are understanding and good at what they specialize in. I work with so many doctors that just don't get that they need to understand where the patient is coming from and understand them completely.

I wish you the best of luck and we want to see results when you are done. Wishing you the best.

hi there - glad to hear you're having facial reconstruction.  did you decide not to go the way of 7-12 jump???  i'm scheduled for it in november.  i have looked into reconstruction, glad to hear the symmetry is back ( i have the gold weight in my eyelid already, it's the best compared to the wide opened look).  would love to hear how you made the decision to forego nerve anastamosis & choose reconstruction.    all the best, nancy
