Phonak Audeo V90-312

Hello everyone.

I just received 2 Phonak Audeo V90-312 hearing aids for testing. My insurance will cover both devices. I'm not sure of them yet compared to my old Starkey- in-ear device.

Has anyone experience with these units and if so what is your verdict on them. I may ask my hearing specialist if I can test the Phonak in ear model. What is the best hearing

aid out there? I'm lost theres so much to choose from and everyone claims to be the best.

What kind of insurance do you have that will pay for a hearing aid...lucky you!

Hearing aids are like cars, Ford vs Chevy, etc. I am getting my first one tomorrow, a Resound Linx 9. It was crystal clear when I tried the demo. Wish I could offer more but my experience is limited. Consumer Reports did a hearing aid review recently...google it.

Can't help you with the hearing aids,, I have a new BAHA device. My husband has the Starkey 70 (?) for both ears and really likes them.

My insurance (Fed BCBS) paid $2500 towards them, not full price of course, but helped!

James, you are getting new hearing aid and using the BAHA? Your "good" ear is losing hearing too? Hope that works for you !!

I can't offer advice, but tagging on to your post, hoping to glean info.  I am waiting for the newest CROS to be released which will be compatible with the newest Audeo Phonak.  My audiologist tells me it won't be available until around April. My thoughts were to go with the in-the-ear piece for the CROS and then behind the ear for the Audeo receiver.  It is all very confusing and not many resources.  I feel I am hostage to my audiologist's choices and also to availability.  Anyone know of a hearing aid forum?  Based on info provided to me in the past, I would like to buy the hearing aids which use the size 13 battery, as opposed to the 312. My understanding is that even though the size 13 costs more, it also lasts longer.  Again, I am taking my audiologist's word for it.

I've had the Phonak Audeo and Cros for almost 3 years now.

There is no "best" hearing aid. They all have their pros and cons and claim to do this, that, and the other thing.

All I can suggest is that you test them out and buy them if they work for you.

Make sure you test them in noisy environments and social gatherings to see how the noise reduction works. I've not had much luck there.

Consumer Reports did a hearing aid review recently...google it.

What I found was a Consumer Reports buying guide which did not rate various brands and models:

I haven't found anything to indicate that CR tested and rated hearing aids.

Google hearing aid forums. There are several that you can check out. You can also use the search feature at the top of the page and search hearing aids. We've had plenty of discussions here.

You can get Power One 312s or 13s for about $17 for a package of 60 on Amazon. There are other brands of each at higher prices that purport to last longer but it's anybody's guess if they actually do.

I think you'll be changing batteries every couple of days no matter what you buy.

The way I make my batteries last longer is I turn off the hearing aids until I have to talk to somebody.
