Post op 6 years Scar tender - sometimes - weird
« on: July 16, 2018, 12:53:13 pm »
Hello, Long time no post...lol
Question for those that are a few years post op, does your scar sometimes become tender? For example sometimes while sleeping I roll over -mind you my hair is in a bun because I have long hair- and the pressure from the bun and the pillow can wake me up because it hurts. Sometimes when I touch certain areas around my scar I can feel a bit uncomfortable but sometimes I can touch all over and feel no tenderness-weird. I sure hope I am explaining this ok, lol.

Anyone else post op feel tenderness from time to time around the scar???? How long post op are you?

Thank you
Mindy

Hi Mindy .....

Good to see you again!  Hopefully things are going well for you.

I am 24 and 10 years post-op from retrosigmoid surgeries (one on each side) and 7 years post-op from a translab surgery.  Only the translab surgery incision from 7 years ago still becomes tender at times.  Some of the issue (for me) is the stem of some of the eye glass readers I wear rubs on part of the scar, which I think irritates mine.  That incision is lumpy and bumpy, as well, and I can feel little raised bumps along it.  Don't know if that has anything to do with it being tender at times.  It seems to come and go.

Take care and keep in touch here on the forum.  It really does help other people.

Hello,

I had trans-lab 9 years ago and am experiencing pain on the incision site. It is extremely painful to the touch. No headaches just pain. I'm wondering if it is a scar neuroma? I did read that this can occur. Have you seen your doctor for this?

I just had surgery translab a month ago and the area from the temples over the top left side of my head and down to the neck really hurts.  The doctor told me to give it some time and the pain will diminish.  The area behind my left ear is still spongy and hurts to touch. I am depressed reading that some people still have pain 9 years after surgery!! Are you taking medication for it?

I am almost 9 months tranlab post op. I feel  behind my ear is where the hole was made, not necessarily in the incision site. I feel some dent in that area. Its very obvious to my finger touch. No pain.  I guess they flap open our scalp, so the incision underneath is not where the hole is. Its behind my my ear. Did anyone feel a dent behind their ear ?

11 years post op and still have pain and irritation along scar. Biggest problems is ingrown hairs that itch, I scratch and some get infected. The itching is intense and when I scratch my kids would ask if I had cooties. Told them a bot fly. So now during these flare ups that what we call it.
Scar itself kinda tingles like you sleeping foot does as it wakes up. I keep my hair braided mist of the time because its waist length. Sometimes I cant stand the pull on the scar. Sometimes it's painful, other time just annoying.
