Radiosurgery Consults
« on: October 06, 2018, 10:04:15 am »
Do any of you know if any of the radio surgeons that specialize in ANs give free consults? Many people send their MRIs to House for free consult, but their specialty is surgery. I don’t want to go that route. I have not seen any recent posts that indicate Chang, Lundsford or Sheehan give free consults, so thought I’d check with the community.  Thanks

When I was diagnosed 6 years ago, both Lunsford and Chang did free consults ( not in person, send your MRI to them)

Thanks Robin,
How did you contact them? Did you call their office?

If you send MRI, they will tell you whether or not you are a candidate for radiation. There can be many reasons why you would be excluded. But most of those guys are good  and they'll answer promptly and thoroughly. I consulted with Chang, Lunsford, and Sheehan, visited all except Lunsford.

If you're interested in Dr. Lundsford at UPMC you can call 412-647-3685 and get requested information.  That's the latest number I know of.

Dr Lunsford and Dr. Jason Sheehan at UVA both give consults.  Literally I found their emails on the web and just emailed them and they put me in contact with who I need to send info to.  I chose to go to Dr. Sheehan (who trained under Lunsford) and will be getting GK on my 14 mm AN in 2 weeks on Nov 2.

They are both easy to find with contact info on the web and just either email or call their office and they can tell you exactly what to do!

I had great responses to both!

Good luck!

12mm diagnosed Feb 2018
14mm at 6 mo MRI Aug 2018

GK at UVA Dr Jason Sheehan Nov 2, 2018
MRI May 2019, slight swelling of AN but showing necrosis - experiencing vertigo issues
Columbia, South Carolina
