OSIA OSI300 Implant

I am looking at getting an OSIA OSI300 implant to help with my SSD.  This device would allow me to continue to get MRIs to check on my residual tumor.  This device was just launched in October of 2023 so I am wondering if anyone has this implant.  I have an appointment on April 11th for a simulation to see if I would like it.  I am curious to see if anyone has this new implant and their experience with it. It's my understanding that the operation to implant is about 90 minutes and then a 6 week wait for it to heal before it can be activated.   I am excited to actually have an option available.

Oh good for you! My doctor said it was a no go, due to the shadow they cast on MRI, but now I'm going to ask again. Cannot wait to hear about it.

Sorry, I have not replied back to this post but I am also a NO GO for this implant due to the shadowing cast it would cause on future MRIs. My doctor did give me the option of the Baha Titanium implant.   I have been reading & trying to decide if this would be an option or if I should just continue to live life with no assistance for my SSD.  Actually the more I read about the implants, I am not sure I would be happy with them as my surgery side is still very sensitive & tender and I believe the implants would make that surgery side even more sensitive.   Currently, I have decided that I am going to try Cros hearing aid and see if they can help me.  I have an appointment at the end of September to discuss this option.

Good luck! I too really wanted the OSIA, but my Head and Neck guy just showed me scans of the shadow they cast, and it's huge. So I understand it's a no.  I have been trialing Cros aids for months now, and am unimpressed.  The Cros makes everything louder, but it gives little to no benefit in bringing a speaker's words out of the background noise. A truck driving by, or a chair scraping the floor is jarringly loud, but I still can't make out what is said in a meeting, classroom or restaurant. With a quiet setting, and 1-3 people I don't even use the Cros, I hear better without it.  I wish we had better options.

Has anyone looked to to Cochlear implants.  There is a webinar in the library by Dr. Cunningham (Duke-July 8/1/2023) where he goes over the hearing options.  I attended it and found it interesting. There is no mention of OSIA but the other options are reviewed.

 Now I see OASI is a Cochlear implant.  I was tested for Cochlear implants by my ENT and I did not qualify for two reasons, my hearing was "too good" and I was too happy. My ENT was not concerned with shadowing. I am testing again in a year.
