Insurance Coverage vs Follow up
« on: November 08, 2024, 04:16:03 pm »
I had my CK treatment Sept 2023.  I had my first follow up MRI June 2024, it marginally shrunk. I am in the middle of insurance changes, long story here.  However I asked my doctor if I could push my next follow up until Dec 2025. He had no problem with the delay.  Just reaching out to see if others have had longer intervals in their follow up MRIs like my plan.

Greetings Dan!  I want to follow on this thread.  I am 60 and was hoping to retire early, but the tumor and follow up might delay that.  I am on an every 2 year MRI schedule now after translab.  Had Gamma prior and that was a 1 year schedule. My thought is maybe push MRI to age 62 - 62 1/2 (retire) then next at age 65 on Medicare. Interested to know if anyone else has delayed MRIs. And anyone on Medicare - any issues with getting the MRI covered?

You are in a like position as me.  I lose COBRA the end of this month.  The intern insurances will work but are expensive and really only protect you when things get out of control. I turn 65 in Dec 2025 and will have Medicare then.  It would be interesting to hear if others have had problem with Medicare.  My wife is on it and she had surgery for her broken heel early this year.  Medicare worked as good as my BCBS and the out of pocket was minimal.
