Tear ducts plugged

Does anyone have plugs in there tear ducts for dry eye? I have really bad dry eye on the left side and my eye doc plugged the top and bottom tear duct. So now my eye sits in a pool off tears all day and it runs down my face. I still have to use the same amount of eye lub and drops. My eye almost closes all the way. It always has but now eye doc wants to put gold weight on my eye lid. Should i have the plugs removed? It drives me crazy to have my eye in a teary pool all day.
