GOOD NEWS...I FINALLY HAVE A LITTLE MOVEMENT!!!
« on: February 02, 2007, 09:58:11 am »
I am so excited!! :D

I had the 12/7 surgery last August.  Tomorrow will be my six month anniversary of the nerve switch surgery.  In December, I could feel a "tugging" type motion inside my face with no outward visible signs of movement when i moved my tongue.  Well last night my son said he saw a little twitching by my upper lip.

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am.  Finally, finally something is going my way!!  I have been patiently and impatiently waiting for this for a long time, as some of you know, this has been a long hard journey for me.

I was going to wait until the Sat. nite phone call to tell you all, but, I am afraid I might forget to participate in the phone call.

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys/gals know.

Yea! .. I know the "feeling!" .. in the last few months I can move lots of muscles I could not before!! (I'm 15+ months)

The lower lip is the last part that still seems "dead" .. is there any rime or reason to the order of which muscles come back??

That's weird Joef:

My neurologist told me the 1st area to come back with nerve regeneration IS the chin area,
the upper cheek & eye area is the last.

Looks like your body is working backwards, but hey, as long as it's working !!!!!

Wonder why your chin area didn't come back first ??

Take care, Nancy

AWESOME news Denise ;D   I'll  never forget the day I was able to slightly raise the corner of my mouth, it was the most incredible feeling and the turning point in my recovery.

Doing the happy dance with batty ;D
