gamma knife on the 4th of may
« on: May 06, 2007, 08:26:12 pm »
I was notified on 3-12-07 i have a 1.5 x1.1x1.0 an on left side.Thought this is it I'm a goner
pretty scared to say the least.
Learned as much as I could online which is alot so I felt much better, actually fortunate because
there are much much worse tumors then this.
I live in WI. and we have some very good health care in this area so I went to Marshfield Clinic
in marshfield.I had a third opinion at mayo clinic and that confirmed my first opinion. The first doc. I
seen is a conventional nuerosurgeon and said 5 years ago he would operate. however he recommended
for me at age 41 gamma knife. So I went to doc. Neal at Marshfield clinic for a second opinion (this is where my first doc. recommended I go).
Doc. Neal felt very positive about gamma knife and also said I could watch it for awhile if I wanted to,so I took a month to do some research on my situation. He also said he could remove it surgically but he wouldn"t I would have to have somebody else do it because he felt that wouldn't be the best choice for me.
Well last friday he zapped it,today is sunday the 6th and I feel very good.
I haven't had any side affects whatsoever.
so far so good

So glad to hear you're feeling good after your GK!  Very positive story.
