A new face ?
« on: May 30, 2007, 09:02:24 am »
Just had a very positive meeting with the plastic people
They have an alternative way to help the smile (no facial nerve left side
- and a tumour on the right, so a non-nerve approach maybe wise)
Basically they use muscle used for gritting the teeth -re routed
to then give movement on the dead side
OK - not perfect - but "perfect" may no longer be possible
a small smile would cheer me up a bit for sure
I just wondered if anyone else had had this one before ?
Best regards
Tony

Hi Tony:  Hmmmm, interesting.  It sounds like one of those 'muscle flaps'  they do.  I've heard of them, they're suppose to be really good for facial reanimation.
Let me/us with facial paralysis know whatever else you hear, & thanks !!   Nancy
ps:  A small smile would cheer me up too !
