Mine was 1.5 cm.

This will be interesting.  Nonetheless, I don't think there is a typical size because symptoms vary that send people to the doctor.  Also, some doctors unfamiliar with AN's give people other explanations (such as aging) as to why symptoms are happening.

I would venture to say that with today's technology,(MRI with and without contrast) that tumors are diagnosed at a smaller size than when cat scans were used.

Kindest regards,
Kate

I just learned of someone's small AN turning out to be a swollen nerve -- found out in surgery there was no tumor.  Also read that up to about 7 or 8 mm it may be difficult to be sure if it really is a tumor.  Maybe a good reason to watch and wait for small masses.

I'd be interested in knowing the age of the person, as well as the tumor size, male/female, right or left side tumor.

Best to all

I wasn't sure where this poll was, and I had to search a bit to find it again.  Is there any way to just search for polls?

Mine was right side and depending on which doctor I asked, 1.4 - 1.8 cm. I was 43 when diagnosed, had surgery at 44, I'm now 46.

Can't quite figure out how to add my input on the poll but...

Size:  1.8cm
Age:  42 (at time of discovery)
Sex:  M
Location:   Left side
How it was found:  Failed annual hearing test....resulting tests identified the tumor.
Originally 1.8cm (left ear)...Swelled to 2.1 cm...and holding after GK treatment (Nov 2003)
Gamma Knife University of Virginia  http://www.medicine.virginia.edu/clinical/departments/neurosurgery/gammaknife/home-page
Note: Riverside Hospital in Newport News Virginia now has GK!!

I just learned this past Friday that my left side AN has grown from 1.3cm to 1.6cm.
I will visit the House Ear Clinic to help determine the best course of action since it is clearly growing.

I have about 70% hearing remianing in my left ear.  Does any one know the likelihood of hearing perservation with a AN at 1.6cm should I undergo surgery?

Thanks for your inputs.
